LOS ANGELES - Juniors Adom Jacko and Brandon Brown are part of the 2015-16 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball All-Conference team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Jacko earns second-team All-WCC honors while Brown claims honorable mention honors. The All-Conference awards are voted on by the league's 10 coaches.
The Lions finished the regular season with back-to-back overtime wins as they head into the 2016 WCC Basketball Championships at 13-16 overall and 6-12 in the league play.
Jacko, a junior college transfer from Chaffey College, began to hit his stride in conference play, going six straight games with 20 or more points. He is the first player to do so since Haywood Eaddy went six straight games of 20 or more between Jan. 15 - Jan. 30, 1999. Against Portland of Feb. 6, he went for 35 points and seven rebounds, hitting 13-for-20 from the field.
On Jan. 23 against the Cougars, Jacko finished the game 11-for-12 from the field, equaling the all-time LMU record for shooting percentage in a game (91.6 percent - 10 or more attempts). Victor Lazzaretti went 11-for-12 against Pepperdine on Feb. 25, 1987 and Mike Yoest did it against Marquette on Jan. 6, 1988.
Jacko, who has missed the last four games with a back injury, has five double-doubles on the season and is still ranked seventh within the WCC in scoring at 16.6 ppg, 4th in shooting at 55.7 percent, 10th in rebounds at 6.4, 8th in blocks at 0.9 bpg and 8th in offensive rebounds at 2.4.
As for Brown, former NJCAA Player of the Year from Phoeniz College, became the first player since Tony Walker in 1992 to have back-to-back games with points-assists double-doubles. It is just the eighth time in school history that it has happened.
Brown now has 173 assists this season, ranking in a tie for 10th all-time with Anthony Ireland (2013-14). His 5.97 assists per game is third in the WCC this season and sits 12th all-time at LMU. He is also 18th in the WCC in scoring at 12.6 ppg, seventh in the WCC with a 2.52 assist-to-turnover ratio. That ratio ranks third all-time for a single season at LMU.
The Lions will open the 2016 WCC Championships taking on San Diego on Friday, Mar. 4 at 6 pm. The teams split the season series, each winning on their home floor.
The opening game of the men's bracket between the Lions and Toreros can been seen on BYUtv, online at TheW.tv and on air at KXLU 88.9 FM.
