Playing its second ranked opponent in as many days, the LMU men's tennis team (0-2) fell 6-1 to #6 USC (5-0) on the road at Marks Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the lopsided end score, LMU played the Trojans tough to start singles play. Four of the six singles matches went to three sets, with LMU earning the opening set in all four of those matches.

LMU's lone point came by way of a tie-breaker victory for Joat Farah on court five. The match had already been decided on the team level, but after Farah and his opponent, Rob Bellamy, split the first two sets, the two played a tiebreaker which was won by Farah, 10-8. That match proved to be the most competitive of all on Saturday afternoon, with Farah winning 7-5 in the first before dropping a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5) in the second.

Earlier in the match, Errol Smith earned a 7-5 victory in the opening set before eventually falling, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 to #83 Jake DeVine at #2 singles. Freshman Lukas Moenter had a similar fate on court three, picking up a 6-3 victory in the opener only to fall 6-2, 6-3 in the next two sets to #69 Logan Smith. The trend continued on court four where Luke Bohuslav topped Laurens Verboven, 6-2, in the first before dropping two and three, 6-3, 6-2, respectively.

The Lions will return to action on February 12 at 1 p.m. when they host Oregon from the LMU Tennis Center. All home matches this year will be live streamed at LMULions.com.
