SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Sophomore Dayne Jagga took a feed from Cory McGee and scored with 52 seconds remaining in regulation to lift 20th-ranked LMU to a 14-13 win over No. 10 Harvard in the first day of The Bronco Invitational at Santa Clara, Calif., on Friday.
Jagga finished the game with three goals for the Lions (7-10). Freshman Alex Athimaritis led the Lions with four goals, adding three steals and two assists. Noah Harrison had four goals for Harvard (16-4).
McGee, who had two goals and three assists, gave the Lions an 8-6 lead at the half. The Lions held the two-goal lead throughout the third until Harvard scored with just one second left in the third quarter and then again to start the fourth quarter to tie the game at 11-11.
The Lions answered right back with back-to-back goals from Athimaritis and Jon Beck to go up 13-11 with 4:49 to play.
The 10th-ranked Crimson didn't go away, scoring two goals 40 seconds a part to tie the game at 13-13 with 3:12 to play. The Lions then fought off a Harvard 6-on-5 opportunity to set-up Jagga's winner.
LMU continues play at The Bronco when they host 18th-ranked St. Francis at 9 am and then Bucknell, who is tied for 10th nationally with Harvard, at 2:20 pm.
