Stanford, Calif. — LMU dropped a hard-fought 10-9 decision to 7th-ranked Princeton on Saturday, September 20th, at Avery Aquatics Center, falling just short after a late fourth-quarter rally in the final game of the MPSF Invitational.

Princeton set the pace early, building a 6-2 lead through the first two quarters as LMU struggled to find its footing. The Lions cut into the deficit in the third to trail 8-4 heading into the fourth, then exploded for 5 goals in the final period, outscoring the Tigers 5-2 down the stretch in a comeback bid that ultimately came up just one goal short.

Gabrijel Burburan led the charge for LMU with 3 goals, providing much of the spark in the fourth-quarter push. Bence Barics, Jake Bonavia and Luka Dimic each scored in the fourth quarter as well, while Caden Poulleau and Nico Furneaux each found the net in the third to fuel the comeback. Eduardo Carraresi opened the scoring for LMU in the first quarter.

LMU closes out the MPSF Invitational at 10th place in a stacked field, finishing the tournament with a 2-2 record.

The Lions fall to 6-4 on the season and will hit the road again, traveling to face UC San Diego on September 23rd.
