Stanford, Calif. — No. 13 LMU outlasted No. 9 Pepperdine in a thrilling 15-14 win on Friday, September 19th, at the MPSF Invitational, holding firm in the final seconds to seal a signature victory.

Pepperdine came out strong, taking the first quarter 5-3, but LMU answered with a 4-2 second quarter to tie the game at 7-7 by halftime. The two teams traded evenly in the third, 2-2, setting up a fourth quarter for all the marbles. After a back-and-forth start, the game came down to the wire in the final moments, before LMU scored in the dying seconds and pulled through with the one-goal victory. 

LMU's offense was balanced and relentless down the stretch. Asher Smith, Nico Furneaux, Luka Dimic and Gabrijel Burburan each scored three goals to pace the attack, while Soren Martin, Nick Leung and Bence Barics all added one goal to round it out. 

LMU improves to 6-3 on the season and will look to carry the momentum into their next matchup as the MPSF Invitational continues tomorrow. Pepperdine falls to 5-8.

The Lions will face the winner of tonight's matchup, UCSB vs. Princeton, at 2pm tomorrow in the 9th place game.
