Aug. 4, 2015 Ten former LMU baseball players have been active in professional baseball this year, including one in the Major Leagues. C.J. Wilson is currently pitching for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Four players, including Tanner Donnels, David Fletcher, Trevor Megill and Colin Welmon, are currently in their first season of professional baseball after finishing up their collegiate careers this season.
Fletcher in particular has taken well to the professional ranks, beginning his career with the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League in the Angels organization. There, the right-handed hitting shortstop batted .336 with 12 doubles, three triples, 27 runs scored, 11 stolen bases and 27 RBI over 34 games before being promoted to Class A Burlington and the Midwest League. The move has done little to slow Fletcher's momentum, as he has batted .346 with a double, a triple, three runs scored and two RBI over his first six games with the Bees. Overall this year, Fletcher is batting .337 and reaching base at a .395 clip.
