April 30, 2015 Four LMU men's tennis players earned WCC All-Academic honors, it was announced by the conference office on Thursday. Seniors Felix Van Kann and Todd Volmari each earned a first team selection, while Luke Bohuslav and Othar Kordsachia earned honorable mention selections.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
For van Kann (3.83 GPA | Communication Studies), the selection is the second of his career. Bohuslav (3.23 GPA | Finance), Kordsachia (3.25 GPA | Finance) and Volmari (3.35 GPA | Electrical Engineering) were all lauded for the first time.
Van Kann finished the year 15-13, including 10-10 in dual play. The native of Frankfurt, Germany went 8-9 while playing at #3 singles, and posted a 9-10 overall doubles record (7-3 with Kordsachia).
Bohuslav had a stellar sophomore year for the Lions, going 14-6 overall and 9-3 in dual matches. Included in those totals is a 4-2 mark in WCC matches. He went 6-3 at #6 singles and 2-0 at #5 singles, finishing the year on a six-match win streak. The Orinda, Calif. native was 7-4 in doubles play.
Kordsachia was 5-5 overall in singles play, including 4-2 in dual matches. The Hamburg, Germany native went 4-1 at #6 singles and 14-8 overall in doubles matches. Playing primarily at #3 doubles, Kordsachia went 11-5 in that spot during dual matches.
Volmari played to a 2-2 record in singles play and a 4-6 record in doubles. Volmari posted at least one doubles victory at each of the three doubles positions this year.
The Lions finished the year 13-11 overall, including 3-6 in the WCC, to finish sixth in the conference standings.
