LOS ANGELES- The 13th-ranked LMU women's water polo team played their first home game of the 2015 season and suffered an 11-2 setback to fifth-ranked UC Irvine at the Burns Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Anteaters (13-6) led throughout, scoring the game's first eight goals. Ten different players scored for UC Irvine with Cambria Shockley the only one with two goals.
LMU (13-6) got goals from Ivana Castro and Caitlin Schafer in the second half. Goalie Jordan White had 11 saves.
The Lions continue their nine-game home stand when they host their first Golden Coast Conference match-up of the season against San Diego State on Thursday, March 19 at 4 pm. Then on Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21 the Lions will host the 2015 ZUMO LMU Invite. The 15-game, two-day tournament will be ticketed with all the proceed's benefiting the LMU Women's Water Polo program and their Lions' Atheltic Fund.
