LOS ANGELES -- -- The ninth-ranked LMU women's water polo team will play its first conference match-up in the Golden Coast Conference this weekend when they travel to face Fresno Pacific on Saturday at 9 am.
The GCC match-up is the first for the Lions within their new conference, making the move this offseason. It is the first of three games on the weekend as the Lions will end with a pair of ranked opponents.
Following Fresno Pacific, the Lions will stay in Fresno and take on No. 3 Stanford at 1 pm. They will then head home to face No. 13 Hawaii at the Burns Aquatics Center on Sunday, Mar. 9 at 12 noon.
The Lions are led by senior Alexandra Honny with 28 goals and 29 steals. Ivana Castro, who led the Lions with three goals against No. 3 UCLA last week., is second on the team with 21 goals. Laura Lopez has been a stat-stuffer with 16 goals, 16 assists and 10 steals.
On the defensive side, Clair Wright has paced the Lions with 120 saves and a goals against average under eight. She gets help from Mackenzie Beck as she has 18 steals.
