Doubles Teams Collide in Championship Match at SDSU Invite

The LMU men's tennis team had a pair of doubles duos meet in the San Diego State Invite Championship, with David Doehring and Luke Bohuslav defeating Joat Farah and Othar Kordsachia for the title.

Doehring and Bohuslav began play against Cevallos/Meizer of San Diego State, dispatching the opposition by a score of 8-5. The second round saw the pair take on James/Marback of Denver, with the Lions posting an 8-3 victory to force a match against Bal/Chazeau of Grand Canyon. There, Doehring/Bohuslav beat the Lopes' pair by a score of 8-2 to reach the final.

Farah/Kordsachia reached the semifinal by way of victories over Porutiu/Miaule of UCSD (8-1) and Rogenkamp/Schueller of Grand Canyon (8-6). The duo then met Kasahara/Chou of Arizona, defeating the opposition by a score of 8-5 to make it an all-LMU final. Doehring/Bohuslav defeated Farah/Kordsachia, 8-4, in the finale.

In singles play, Doehring made a run to the quarterfinal of the red flight, eventually falling to Jonas Meinzer of San Diego State by a score of 7-6, 6-1. Doehring opened play with a victory over Patrick Hall of San Diego (6-1, 6-2) before knocking off Axel Boullin of UCSD by a count of 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 to advance to the match against Meinzer. Despite the loss, Doehring finished third in the flight as Geoffrey Fosso of USD was unable to play due to injury.

Farah also competed in the red flight, winning his opening-round match over Eric Marbach of Denver by a score of 6-2, 6-3. The freshman standout then fell to Fosso in a close 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 match. Playing in a consolation match, Farah defeated Boullin, 6-4, 7-6.

Competing in the round-robin third flight, Bohuslav finished as the runner-up after defeating Santiago Cevallos by scores of 6-1, 6-1 in the fifth and final round of play. Bohuslav dropped a match to the eventual champion, Shoki Kasahara of Arizona, in the first round by a score of 6-2, 6-1 before defeating Zach Fryer of Denver, 7-6 (10), 7-5. Bohuslav then beat Alexandre Martinez of Grand Canyon, 7-5, 6-4. Bohuslav's fourth-round match came against Andrew Maloszak of UC San Diego, where the Lion beat the Triton, 6-1, 6-2.

The Lions will return to action on Friday when they travel to the three-day UCSB Pre-Regional.
