Meet Results
IRVINE, Calif. -- LMU had a great day on the track. Multiple Lions finished in the top 10 of their races and set new personal records, while LMU got an individual victory and meet record at UC Irvine's Spring Break Invitational.
Sophomore Drew Dalton won the men's 3000 meter race with a time of 8:13.29, his new personal record, a new Spring Break Invitiational record, and a new LMU record. Junior Tyre Johnson also set a new PR of 8:44.24, finishing sixth overall. The Lions had a pack of four runners finish eighth through eleventh. Sterling Lockert crossed the finish line at 8:49.78, Kevin Joerger finished in 8:51.39, Henry Jordan ran a time of 8:55.67 for a new personal-best, and junior Michael Carlone finished the pack with a time of 8:59.45. Dan Smith ran a time of 9:12.02 for 16th overall. Freshman Andres Lopez improved on his time from the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers by nearly five seconds, finishing in 9:16.82, 17th overall. Derek Weber ran a time of 9:43.22.
LMU finished with four runners in the top seven in the women's 3000m. Cassandra Salazar finished fourth overall, crossing the finish line in 10:07.41. Caroline Draper ran a time of 10:08.83 for fifth, Brieanna Delaney finished sixth with a time of 10:10.23, Brittnie Munoz came in at 10:11.48, beating her previous best by more than five seconds, for seventh place. Sophomore Kelly Shogren came in at 10:31.34, 12th overall, setting a new PR by more than 10 seconds. Laura Delgado finished 20th, in 10:53.48, also eclipsing her PR by more than 10 seconds. Michelle Hickerson ran a 11:03.17 for 22nd.
The Lions' participation at the meet began with Mike Evans competing in the men's 1500m. Evans finished in 4:12.37. In the men's 800m, senior Oran Arms ran a 1:56.74, second in his section, and 11th overall. Mike Evans ran a time of 2:03.07, which was 34th overall.
LMU returns to the track next weekend, March 31 and April 1, at the Cal-Nevada Championships in Claremont, Calif.
