2011 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Americans
LOS ANGELES -- Senior Edgaras Asajavicius and junior Jon Colton of the LMU men's water polo team have been named 2011 All-American by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, as announced on Monday. The Lions have placed two or more on the All-American list in each of the last seven seasons and have had 26 since 2000.
Asajavicius was named third-team All-American after leading the team with 57 goals in 2011, giving him 206 in his four-year career. He finishes his stellar career third all-time in goals, and is just the third player in LMU history to reach 200 goals in a career. It is his third All-American honor, earning third-time as a sophomore in 2009 and honorable mention in 2010.
The All-American honor caps a record year for Asajavicius, who was also named the Western Water Polo Association Player of the Year and first-team All-WWPA.
As for Colton, he caps his best season, earning honorable mention honors. He was named first-team All-WWPA after becoming the Lions leader in and out of the pool. He more than doubled his career goal total with 24 in 2011, adding 12 assists, 71 kick outs drawn and 16 steals. All where career-highs except steals, which was one off the pace.
Asajavicius joins Andy Stevens, Tibor Forai, Ian Elliott, Endre Rex-Kiss and Kevin Witt as three-time All-Americans. Steven and Forai were four-time winners.
