Inside Lion Baseball: Getting to Know Trevor Megill

Feb. 13, 2012

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - As the 2012 season approaches, we here at LMULions.com would like to introduce you to some of the new baseball players who are entering their first season with the Lions. We have asked all the newcomers a series of questions that range from why they chose LMU to what we would find in their refrigerator at this very moment. If you have any additional question that you'd like to see answered in the future, please feel free to email Tyler Geivett at tgeivett@lmu.edu.

This week's question and answer session will feature freshman right-handed pitcher and infielder, Trevor Megill.

LMULions.com: What did you do this summer?
Trevor Megill: I got into a charter school so I could won getting my high school diploma early in order to come to LMU at semester.

LMU: Why did you choose LMU?
TM: When I had walked on campus, I loved the layout and how close it was to everything. I love the beach and the Los Angeles area. Also, the coaches are all great guys and very easy to get along with.

LMU: Do you have a nickname? Explain the meaning behind it.
TM: Sloth. I have no idea what made this nickname come to mind for Matt Florer, but it did. The name comes from the movie The Goonies.

LMU: What is your greatest highlight on the field?
TM: Winning.

LMU: After LMU, what do you want to do?
TM: Hopefully continue to play baseball, but if not, continue working with my finance major.

LMU: Who is the funniest guy on the team?
TM: I have only been around the crew for a few days so far, but they all seem to have their own style of humor.

LMU: Do you have any superstitions?
TM: When I pitch, I always draw a 5 behind the mound. It was a thing in high school where we had a lucky nickel for the starting pitchers to pass around. I happened to lose it and we had a funeral for the nickel, so we wrote a 5 behind the mound before each game. I guess it just stuck to me.

LMU: Do you have any hidden talents?
TM: I have many, I keep them hidden in case I need to use them for any reason

LMU: What is your favorite place around LMU?
TM: The baseball field.

LMU: What is your favorite baseball team?
TM: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

LMU: What is the early favorite for your walk-up song?
TM: Blue Foundation - Eyes on Fire

LMU: What is your favorite movie?
TM: Step Brothers...hands down.

LMU: What is your favorite book?
TM: The Goose is Loose by Richard Gossage.

LMU: If I take a look inside your refrigerator, what would I find?
TM: Three cartons of eggs, milk and coffee creamer.

LMU: What is your motto or advice you live by?
TM: 1 Peter 4:12-13. Be thankful for your sufferings.

LMU: What is your most prized possession?
