Head Coach Jamie Sanchez said, "We had anticipated this team being very competitive and knew that to win we had to be prepared for a battle. Each match that we played had its own set of circumstances. Most notably, Eliseveta Pironkova broke out of her slump and recorded her first win in singles for the season. She has been coming through in doubles with her partner Reka Rohonyi regularly, so it was good to see her and Reka through with singles wins as well. This win helps prepare us for a very tough weekend with two very competitive conference opponents: St. Mary's and University of San Francisco."
The Lions earned a big win today over Georgetown giving them a 5-2 winning record in their last seven competitions. This weekend, the Lions will go on the road again for two conference match ups. On Friday March 11th, the Lions will face top ranked Saint Mary's and then on Sunday March 13th the Lions will face San Francisco. In their first conference match up the Lions fell to Santa Clara and will be looking for a win this weekend up north.
