FULLERTON, Calif.--Consistency was the key for the Lions after two days of solid golfing by senior John Lim and junior Jake Sarnoff at the Folino Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton. The Lions finished in 5th place as a team while Sarnoff led the way for the Lions ending individually in a tie for 2nd place, collecting his second top ten finish of the 2010-2011 season.
Sarnoff completed three rounds with ease and stability with back to back scores of -1 under par in rounds one and two and shot +1 in the third. Improvement was evident all around with senior John Lim having one of his best outings of the season as well. Lim continuously improved in each round putting up a line of 77 in the first round, 72 in the second, and 69 in the third. Freshman Tyler Torano ended in a tie for 26th place with high scores in the first and third round, but shooting par in the second. Sophomore Bryan Bergna finished in a tie for 30th while transfer sophomore Eduardo Chavez rounded out the Lions in 34th place.
The steady improvement is coming just in time for the WCC Championships next month. The Lions, who were in 8th place after day one, put up solid scores in day two to jump up to a 5th place finish.
The Lions will continue action March 24th and 25th in Lakeside, California at the Barona Collegiate Cup at the Barona Creek Golf Course.
