IRVINE, Calif. -- Junior Jake Sarnoff opened the 2011 Folino Men's Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, Calif., with a two-round 142, putting him in a six-way tie for the lead entering the final round on Tuesday morning.
Sarnof, who shot a pair of rounds of par (71), has helped the the Lions sit in a tie for fifth place with St. John's. The Lions shot an opening round of 298 and followed with a 294 in the second round to close the opening day witha 592. They are six strokes back of Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine, who are tied for third at 586. Cal Poly is second at 583 while the host Titans are leading with a 580.
Freshman Tyler Torano is in the top-20, sitting in a tie for 17th after a 148 in the opening day. Rounding out the Lions scoring was John Lim with a 149 (tied for 22nd), Eduardo Chavez witha 153 (t-33rd) and Bryan Bergna with a 158 (t-44th).
The Lions will begin their third round with Bergna teeing off at 8:54 a.m. The Lions are paird with Cal State Bakersfield and UC Santa Barbara.
