Results

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The LMU Women's Tennis team toped Columbia 4-3 today at home. After dropping the doubles point, the Lions came back to win the singles competition on four courts to secure the overall win. The Lions came back for a win at home after being on the road last week.

In doubles, the Lions fell on all three courts to Columbia. One court one, Anderson/Jin fell to Bartnik/Makaroca of Columbia 8-4. Anderson/Jin made a late surge, but it was not enough to stop Columbia. On court two, Bisharat/Valenzuela fell to Sanon/Tiana 8-2 to give Columbia the early lead with the doubles point. Finally Rohonyi/Pironkova fell to Kovacevic/Davis 8-3 on court three.

In singles, the Lions came back to earn four points and the overall win. The Lions were led by a win from Melissa Valenzuela earned her sixth win of the season on court two for the Lions. Valenzuela defeated Makarova of Columbia 6-3, 6-3. Miya Jin played at the Lion's number three position as just a freshman and recorded her eighth win of the season over Takenaga of Columbia 6-2, 6-3. On court six, Ashley Anderson tied the match with a win over Kovacevic 6-0, 6-7, 6-2. Finally the Lions earned their fourth point from court four where Reka Rohonyi stood tied with Chelsea Davis and then won by retirement.

The Lions will stay at home and play University of Louisville on Saturday at 11:00 am. The Lions are now 6-8 overall on the season.
