NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - LMU men's golf closes out the 31st annual Anteater Classic with an 8th place finish from Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach, Calif. Leading the way was freshman Tyler Torano who earned his second top ten finish by standing alone in 8th place individually.
Torano shot 1 over par today in round three, bouncing back from shooting a 77 in the second round. Torano started the Invitational 4 under par in the first round with a score of 68. Behind him in a tie for 15th place was junior Jake Sarnoff who shot consistently throughout the Invitational with scores of 72, 76, and 74 throughout three rounds finishing +6. Freshman Parker Middleton ended the day in a tie 40th place. Behind Middleton was Senior John Lim in 44th place and Sophomore Boris Stantchev rounded out the five Lions by finishing in 62nd place.
As a team the Lions bounced back from a troubling 2nd round to finish with an overall score of 900 and an 8th place finish. University of Arizona squeaked past host UC Irvine for 1st place overall with a score of 872, with the Anteaters four strokes behind them with 876.
The Lions are back in action March 11th and 12th when they travel to Brandon Dunes, Oregon for the Brandon Dunes Championship.
