Redshirt-junior Ramiro Carreon guided the Navy squad to a game-three and series victory over Crimson on Friday at the LMU Fall World Series. Carreon tossed a six-inning complete-game shutout, facing one over the minimum, as Navy earned a 3-0 decision.
Outside of issuing a leadoff walk to Nick Devian in the second inning, Carreon was perfect through the first three frames. A one-out single from freshman Kyle Raubinger broke up the no-hit bid, but Carreon induced an inning-ending double play on the ensuing play, seemingly escaping danger before it could even lurk.
Navy captain Alex Guthrie had a solid finale, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a pair of doubles and a RBI. Senior Shon Roe also had two hits to accompany one run scored.
Redshirt-freshman Kevin Glomb got the start for Crimson, lasting four innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out a pair. Junior Matt Florer went the final two frames, allowing one run and striking out a pair.
The Lions will open the 2012 season on February 17 when they host a four-game series against UNLV.
