LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Loyola Marymount women's volleyball, led by first-year head coach Tom Black, will open its season on Saturday by welcoming alumnae to Gersten Pavilion for some friendly competition. The annual Alumnae Match is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
Over a dozen alumnae from the program are expected to return to Gersten Pavilion for this year's clash. The alumnae will take on the 2010 Lions, giving the current squad its first taste of competition this season.
Alumnae scheduled to return include Danalee Bragado Corso (1989-1992), Kerry House Hughes (1989-90), Mardell Wrensch Gully (1992-95), Sarah Noriega Sulentor (1994-97), Tracy Holman Duffey (1994-97), Allison Gustorf Schildts (1997-00), Nicole Oehlman (2000-04), Jacene Dimson (2001-04), Jody Carlson (2001-04), Kelli Nerison (2001-04), Dina DeBernardi (2001-05), Audrey Francis (2004-05), Heather Hughes (2004-07), and Emily Day (2005-08). Lindsey Breeden will serve as the coach for the team, and any former Lion women's volleyball player is welcome to attend and play in the match.
Admission into the match is free. The match will serve as a tune-up for the current Lions, who open the 2010 regular season on Friday, August 27, across town against USC at the Holiday Inn LA City Center Trojan Invitational.
