Junior Tara Erdmann set the 1500m school record and has teh 2nd fastest time in the NCAA so far this season

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - This weekend the LMU Track team competed at the UC Irvine invitational setting records on both the men's and women's side. The Lions set two new school records as well as eleven personal records on the day. LMU was highlighted by junior Tara Erdmann's school record in the 1500m 4:26.45 and freshman Greg Innes 800m record 1:54.78.

On the women's side, junior Tara Erdmann led the Lions winning the 1500meter race with an all time school record of 4:26.45. This time not only sets a school record for the Lions, but also is the second fastest time in the NCAA as of March 21st. Close behind Erdmann, sophomore Cassandra Salazar's finished 6th overall in 4:34.97. This time is a huge personal record for Salazar and puts her at number three all-time at LMU. Only two seconds behind, freshman Sheree Shea turned in a quick 4:36.30 for the 1500m placing 9th overall. Senior Brooke Lademan also set a personal record at 4:49.65 placing 21st while Cynthia Chaidez came in close behind and 4:51.16, Megan Fairley 4:54.74 and Caroline Draper 4:56.12. In the 5000m distance Brieanna Delaney came in 18:03.54 placing 9th overall and Marissa Diehl 19:32.84.

The men also had a successful day on the track, freshman Greg Innes set a new school record in the 800m at 1:54.78. In the 1500m, freshman Sterling Lockert ran a 3:53.38 to set a personal record and put him at number two all time at LMU. Also in the 1500m race Oran Arms ran a personal record of 3:57.57 with a 1:57.78 800m split. Thomas Finnigan also turned in a personal best at 4:03.30 while Tyre Johnson, Erik Yanoshic and Brian McDonald came across the line in a pack with times of 4:04.20, 4:04.74 and 4:04.73respectively. Also for the Lions Mike Herrera came close to a personal best with 4:17.36 and Daniel LaCava turned in a 1.59.09 for the 800m distance.

In the sprint distances Tiffany Yee and Jordan Gash placed 18th and 19th overall in the 100meter dash both in 13.67. For the men, Elliot Peaks came in 17th overall in the 100meter dash with a time of 11.42 while teammate Keyon Mitchell came in 11.54. In the women's high jump, Gabrielle Hybki came in 11th overall with a jump of 4-10.25. Vincent Caserio came in 8th overall in the men's high jump with a 5-10.75 and Keyon Mitchell came in 11th overall in the men's long jump with a 21-08.75. Also for the Lions, Matt Duncan ran in the 400meter hurdles clocking a 58.09.

Next weekend, the Lions will be competing in the Cal-Nevada Championships and the competitive Stanford Invitational.
