Results

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Lions clinched the doubles point with wins from Lopez/Sauer and Malet/Bazula. After being down a set, Ivan Lopez and Otto Sauer came back to earn the first win of the day 8-5 over Fuentes/Keyes of Montana State. Lopez and Sauer who have played together all season have established a strong 8-5 winning record in doubles play and this win gives them a three match winning streak. On court two Senior Borja Malet and Geza Bazula clinched the doubles point for the day with a win over Smith/Turzanski 9-8. Malet and Bazula played together on Sunday and now have two straight wins as a doubles team. On court three Renzo Maggi and Johan Berhoff dropped one to Myles Perkins and Esteban Ferrero 8-7.

In singles play the Lions started off strong recording wins for the first set on all six courts. Johan Berhof quickly defeated Myles Perkins 6-2, 6-1 to snap a four-match slump. Berhoff is now 5-5 on the season in singles play. On court five, Renzo Maggi secured a win for the Lions defeating Esteban Ferrero 6-1, 6-2 while Otto Sauer also earned a win 6-0, 6-2 over Keyes of Montana State. Maggi is now 6-6 overall this season in singles and Sauer has three straight singles wins. On court one, Ivan Lopez defeated Turzanski of Montana 6-3, 6-2 for his fifth straight singles win and an overall 9-4 record in singles play this season. In other singles play on court three Smith defeated Borja Malet 0-6, 6-3, 6-0 and Geza Basula fell to Fuentes 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Next up, the Lions will face Marquette University at 1:30 pm on Friday March 19th. The Lions are now 6-7 on the season and have won six out of there last eight matches.
