LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU Catches up with San Diego native April Bisharat of the women's tennis team. After going 3-0 this past weekend at the SDSU Tennis Invitational Tournament, April Bisharat catches up with LMU Athletics about coming to LMU, her goals and her tennis career.
LMU: Why did you choose LMU?
Bisharat: I chose LMU because of the welcoming atmosphere and environment. I also really liked the small campus, we have everything you need here and it is really beautiful.
LMU: How has your experience at LMU been thus far?
Bisharat: I am really happy with my choice to come to LMU everything has been really great.
LMU: Are you living on campus? And do you have a favorite spot ?
Bisharat: I am living in the Tenderich apartments which has been nice, I also really love the view off the bluff.
LMU: Do you like singles or doubles better?
Bisharat: I like singles better. I have played singles my whole life and I am a stronger singles player.
LMU: What is the best part of you game?
Bisharat: I think it would be my perseverance, that I never give up even when I am down in sets.
LMU: What are you goals for this year?
Bisharat: I hope to maintain above a 3.0 in school. For tennis I want to make it to NCAA's, keep a winning record and continue to just work hard.
LMU: How is the LMU team so far?
Bisharat: Well we are like a family, I think we need to raise our confidence after last year, and hopefully the influence of some of the newer girls can help with a new positivity and motivation.
LMU: Other than tennis, what do you enjoy doing?
Bisharat: I love to travel. My favorite place I have been is probably Egypt and Israel, it is such a different cultural experience. Also my two best friends live in Miami, so I love to visit them especially over the summer.
LMU: When did you start playing?
Bisharat: I started to play when I was only two years old, my dad played and is a coach, so I started very young.
LMU: What is your major and what do you want to do after school?
Bisharat:I am a sociology major for pre-law. I would like to go to law school. Or I could coach or play tennis professionally after school too!
LMU: Do you have any prematch superstitions or routines?
Bisharat: No not really, I just keep it low key and go out and play--I let my racquet do the talking.
