After several delays and a postponement, LMU Men's Tennis hosted Boston College at LMU Tennis Center today. The Eagles were too much for LMU as the Lions fell 5-2 in their only match this week.
The match did not start in LMU's favor. The Eagles captured the doubles point 3-0. Renzo Maggi and Aram Abgaryan came the closest to capturing a victory for Loyola Marymount. After being down 5-0 to Boston College's Alex Skinner and Brian Garber, Maggi and Abgaryan made a comeback, tying the score 6-6. The tie wasn't enough as Garber and Skinner pulled off the victory in the No. 2 position 8-6.
The Lions did not fare as well in singles. Boston College won the first two matches before LMU earned a point. Newcomer Abgaryan pulled of LMU's first victory. Abgaryan defeated the Eagles' Erik Kreutzer 6-4, 6-2, in the No. 3 position.
Geza Bazula pulled off LMU's other point. In a three set thriller Bazula defeated Boston College's Brendan Wong 6-4, 5-6, 10-5 in the No. 5 spot.
Aris Andreasian almost pulled off a three set victory. The sophomore from Glendale lost the first set 2-6 to BC's Brian Locklear, came back in the second, 6-4, but couldn't sustain the momentum to pull off the third and lost the final set 8-10.
Loyola Marymount Men's Tennis team will be back in action Monday March, 9. The Lions will host Penn at 1:30 p.m. at LMU Tennis Center for their first of four home matches next week.
