Final Stats

Los Angeles, Calif - On a windy afternoon at LMU Tennis Center, Loyola Marymount Men's Tennis (3-12) hosted Harvard University. LMU couldn't come back from an early deficit against the Crimson and dropped the match 4-3.

It all began with the doubles round. LMU lost the point 2-1. The team of Ivan Lopez and Nick Von Der Ahe captured the Lions' only victory. In the No. 3 doubles position Lopez and Von Der Ahe defeated Harvard's Aba Lucien-Omodele and Michael Hayes 8-5. Lopez and Von Der Ahe are now are 7-3 on the season.

The Lions were close to capturing a win in the No. 2 spot. Johan Berhof and Geza Bazula fought back and forth with Sasha Ermakov and Alstair Felton but dropped the match in a tiebreaker 9-8.

However, LMU would strike first in the singles round. After moving up to the No. 3 position, Geza Bazula won the first singles match and first point for the Lions. Bazula defeated the Crimson's Felton 6-4, 6-2 for his seventh win this season and second in a row.

Ivan Lopez won LMU's second point. Lopez posted the biggest win for LMU this season. The junior from Almeria, Spain upset the No. 77 player in the country Chris Clayton. In the No. 1 singles position Lopez beat Clayton 6-4, 7-6 for his fourth win in a row and his seventh of the season.

Borja Malet finished off the match for LMU. After recovering from an injury, Malet marked his comeback with a singles victory. The Georgia Southern transfer defeated Davis Mangham 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 for his third win this season and his second at the No. 5 position.

Loyola Marymount Men's Tennis will be back at LMU Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions will host their final home match of the season against Dartmouth at 1:30 p.m.
