Emily Day was named to Collegiate Volleyball Update’s Stellar Spiker Honorable Mention team, it was announced on Thursday.  In honoring the 88 student-athletes from across the nation on the first, second, and honorable mention teams, CVU.com looked for players that exhibited excellence and balance.  While NCAA statistical rankings were considered, they weren't the only consideration.  Also considered in forming the two teams of 14, and in choosing the 60 Honorable Mention selections, was the impact the player had on helping her team succeed as well as conference awards.

Day was named first team All-West Coast Conference for the second time in her career following her senior campaign.  The product of Torrance, Calif. finished the season having played in all 112 sets for the Lions, totaling a team-high 484 kills at a rate of 4.32.  Her 28 service aces and 326 digs also led the squad, while her 23 block solos and 67 total blocks placed her second for the Lions.

Her accolades for the 2008 season included two All-Tournament team selections, a WCC Player of the Week selection, a tournament MVP nod and a spot on both the CoSIDA Academic All-District team and the WCC All-Academic squad.  Her 484 kills at a rate of 4.32 per set each place her 10th in the All-Time single-season LMU record book, while her team-leading 1,303 attacks in 2008 place her eighth.  One of just seven members in the 1,000 career dig/1,000 career kills club, she finished her LMU career ranked third all-time in digs (1,181), fourth in total attacks (4,171) and kills (1,521), sixth in kill average (3.61) and sets played (421), eighth in aces (116), and 10th in solo blocks (70) and dig average (2.81).
