LMU Women's Tennis (0-4) took on their cross-town and WCC rival Pepperdine (4-4) on Wednesday afternoon at LMU Tennis Center. The Waves were too much for the Lions as LMU fell 5-2.
The Waves started off the win with by clinching the doubles point claiming all three victories. Tina Razloznik and Shauna Morgan came the closest to breaking the sweep. Their match against Pepperdine's Tania Rice and Zatlka Petrova went right down to the last point with the Waves claiming the win 9-7.
Razloznik and newcomer Elisaveta Pironkova led LMU in singles. The junior from Slovenia, Tina Razloznik, captured the win at the No. 1 singles position defeating Pepperdine's Anamika Bhargava 6-1, 1-6, 6-1.
Pironkova captured her third straight victory in singles for the Lions. The freshman from Bulgaria defeated the Waves' Anne-Christine Voicu 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in the No. 5 position.
LMU Women's Tennis (0-4) will not take a break after this match. The Lions will travel tomorrow to take on cross town rival and defending national champions, UCLA. Match time is set for 1:30 p.m. at Los Angeles Tennis Center.
