Around the Horn Baseball Blog #4: Will Dugoni

Aug. 2, 2007

The fourth entry in our 2007 Around the Horn Baseball Blog comes from sophomore infielder Will Dugoni. Dugoni is spending his summer as the starting shortstop for the Nampa Outlaws of the Boise Summer League in Idaho. Dugoni and the Outlaws finished the regular season 18-9, good for first place in the Sawtooth Division. They enter the postseason tournament as the No. 1 seed. Dugoni is hitting .271 with 12 runs, eight RBI, four stolen bases and a .375 on-base percentage.

As a rookie for the Lions in 2007, Dugoni gave the Lions a spark in the infield. He played in 29 games, starting 14 at third base. He finished the season hitting .308 with a .390 on-base percentage.

Dugoni writes: Overall, life here in Boise is pretty good. We have had nice weather, and it's really warm, usually getting up to 95 degrees or so during the day.

All the baseball players are living in apartments near the campus of Northwestern Nazarene University. My roommates and I live in a two-story apartment in Nampa with all the necessities and utilities covered. It's a pretty sweet situation.

We live about 20 minutes from Boise, where there are plenty of things to do. The other players and I go to malls and restaurants in the city. On our days off, we sometimes go river rafting at the river rapids nearby and then hang out downtown at night.

I'm playing with guys from Missouri, Illinois, Washington, New Jersey, and all over California. One of my roommates is from Kansas. We have a good team, and we've been really successful this year, which has been a lot of fun. Our league tournament is this week, and we have the top seed going into it, so hopefully I'll be coming back to LMU with a league championship.
