Briefly...
LMU baseball continues West Coast Conference action this weekend with a three-game series beginning Friday at Saint Mary's. The series will be a crucial one for the Lions (9-15), who sit in a tie with Gonzaga atop the Coast Division standings at 3-2. Saint Mary's (9-14) is just behind the Lions, even with San Diego at 4-5 in league play. Fans can follow all of the action from Moraga as it happens on the Lions' Audio Network and Gametracker, both at www.LMULions.com.

Scouting Saint Mary's...
Saint Mary's junior left fielder Sam Carter hit .417 (5-for-12) to lead the Gaels against San Diego last weekend. Carter added one home run, two RBI and scored two runs. He also posted a .667 slugging percentage and a .417 on base percentage. On the season, Carter leads the team with a .359 batting average, four home runs and 23 RBI. So far this season, LMU and SMC are one game apart in conference play and have opposite records against common opponents. The Lions swept San Diego, taking three games, but lost two games at Gonzaga. Saint Mary's went 2-4 against San Diego, but went 2-1 at Gonzaga.

The LMU-SMC All-Time Series...
The Lions lead the all-time series with the Gaels 56-28 and have won 10 straight dating back to 2002. In addition to sweeping both series last season, the May series sweep clinched the 2004 Coast Division title for the Lions.
