Loyola Marymount women's tennis wrapped up day one t the 2005 UC Irvine Fall Invitational on Friday. UC Irvine, Northern Arizona, UC Riverside, and UC San Diego along with Loyola Marymount will be competing this weekend. In the first day of the tournament LMU took on Northern Arizona in singles play and UC Irvine in doubles play.
LMU swept all three singles matches against Northern Arizona. Pavla Mesterova defeated Susan McClelland 6-0, 6-0. Serena Fermin picked up a victory over Katie Schurr 6-1, 6-1. Senior Patrycia Hubl defeated Paji Porter taking the first set 6-4, dropped the second set 0-6, but claimed the third set 6-4 for the win.
In doubles play, the Lions also came out victorious. Mesterova and Fermin defeated UC Irvine's Becky Bernhard and Serena Fermin's sister Clare Fermin 8-3.
The Lions will continue play on Saturday with singles matches against UC Riverside and doubles matches against Northern Arizona.
