Recap
LMU
Coach John Loughran: "This was the most exciting game of our career, beating a team that we've never beaten before at their home. They played a tough game. We got the shot at the buzzer with a little bit of luck. We were confident we could win. [During the last timeout] I challenged the team...who would stand up with the nerve to win tonight? These are teams that we've tried to emulate, teams like Stanford. This is a result of chasing those teams."
[On the winning shot] "It was a great shot. Staci [Peterson] has been our leading scorer. We've come a long way. Hopefully this will give us a shot to win tomorrow."
[On USC] "They are one of those teams we've been chasing for years. They're clearly a good team. Defensively we'll have to stop them inside and outside. We're here to win a national title."
Stacia Peterson: [on the winning shot] "I was wide open and didn't want to go into overtime."
Stanford
Head Coach John Tanner: "We had more energy [than LMU] tonight, more shots and more opportunities, but their defense was terrific. Their goalie did a great job. LMU did a great job keeping the game close. We had six to seven quality opportunities in the second half...they had two. We had good control of the game, a stronger team, but they were just making better plays."
Lauren Faust: "They took what we gave them, that's what every team hopes they can do when given the opportunity. I felt we were controlling the game. We had some bad luck. We were getting our shots in, but we didn't really execute when we needed it."
