Moraga, CA (April 24) - For the 15th time in program history, the Loyola Marymount University women's tennis team took third place in the West Coast Conference Championships by defeating Santa Clara 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Saint Mary's College in Moraga, Calif.
The Lions improve to 11-12 on the season as they sweep Santa Clara for the second time this season.
LMU started the day by claiming the doubles point thanks to wins at number two and number three doubles. Sister duo Robyn Baker and Jennifer Baker won at number three doubles 8-3. Carla Arguelles and Tamara Tanner teamed at number two doubles to win in tiebreaker 9-8 to give the Lions doubles win.
LMU finished the sweep with wins at number one, five and six singles. Arguelles coasted to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Catherine Cochrane at number one singles. Jen Baker then earned a win at number five over Erika Barnes, 6-0, 6-4. Freshman Erin Ivey finished the day with a 6-0, 7-5 win at number six.
