Carson, CA (March 27) - In its most impressive showing of the season, the Loyola Marymount women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 sweep over West Coast Conference rival Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Playing in their third match in the last four days, the Lions took advantage of playing just their fourth unranked opponent of season as they won all three doubles match and all six singles match to improve to 6-9 on the season.

The Lions earned a sweep in the doubles matches to claim the double point, dropping just six games combined. LMU then took four of the six single matches in straight sets, including junior Carala Arguelles at number one, freshman Robyn Baker at number two, sophomore Patrycia Hubl at number five and freshman Tamara Tanner at number six.

Freshman Kimi Kaloi took her match at number three singles to three sets as she fell behind quickly in the match dropping the first set, 6-4. However, she made a fierce comeback and won the final two sets 6-1, 6-4.

At number four freshman Serena Fermin also made a comeback after dropping the first set 6-0. She took the second set 6-4 and then took the tiebreaker 10-7 for the win.

The Lions return to playing ranked opponents as they conclude a tough four-game in five days stretch with No. 48 Sacramento State on Sunday at the Home Depot Center.
