Annual Tournament to be Played at LMU Tennis Center

Oct. 19, 2004

Los Angeles, Calif. - For the first time in the tournament's history, the South Bay Grand Prix tennis tournament will be held at Loyola Marymount University, thanks in part to the university's recent upgrades to its tennis facilities. Participants will play on campus Friday, November 12, through Sunday, November 14.

The South Bay Grand Prix is a series of tournaments that permit players to accumulate points by which they will be ranked with other local players. One tournament of the series will be played at LMU for the first time.

LMU women's tennis coach Jamie Sanchez serves as tournament director, and moved the annual tournament from El Segundo to LMU this year as a result of the recent upgrades the campus has made to its tennis facility.

"We are looking forward to the South Bay tennis community visiting our campus as they compete at the LMU Tennis Center," Sanchez said.

The tournament, open to the general public, will offer prize money in the open division. There will be men's, women's, and mixed doubles events, with levels of 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, and open.

Proceeds of the tournament will benefit LMU Tennis.

Entry deadline for the tournament is Wednesday, November 3, at 5:00 p.m. For more information or to register for the tournament, click here.
