Long Beach, Calif. - The Loyola Marymount University women's swim team stands in fifth place with 218 points after the opening day of the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships, held at the Long Beach Belmont Plaza. Pepperdine leads the women's competition with 336 points.
The Lions were paced by junior Krista Zabor who swam a 2:11.37 in the 200-yard individual medley to place 12th. Zabor placed third in the event last season with a 2:08.76 and holds the school record of 2:08.50 set in 2001.
LMU senior Melissa Bommarito also recorded a top-15 individual finish swimming a 25.09 in the 50-yard freestyle.
The Championships will continue through Saturday, completing LMU's season.
