Los Angeles, CA - Sweeping the match across the board, the Loyola Marymount University men's tennis team defeated the Portland State Vikings 7-0 Friday afternoon on LMU's home tennis courts.
The Lions (6-2) swept the singles matches in straight-set victories down the lineup. Tigran Martirosyan, recovering from illness, assumed post at No. 1 for the Lions, defeating PSU's Michael Thoeresz 6-3, 6-4. Leo Graeubig played at No. 2 for the pack, defeating Kyoal Desai in two, 6-3, 6-3. Jaako Asuja gave up only one game in his 6-1, 6-0 win over Tanner Gates at No. 3. Beau Berglund and Ryan Gerstner rounded out the middle of the Lions lineup, allowing a combined three games to slip past them at No. 4 and 5, respectively. Michael Cameron was perfect in his outing, taking his victory without giving up a single game.
LMU's men swept the doubles as well, led up front by their 37th-ranked dynamic duo, Martirosyan and Graeubig, who continue to etch closer to a bid to the NCAA playoffs in May.
Next, the Lions travel to Tucson, AZ, to play against the Arizona Wildcats on Monday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m.
