Los Angeles, CA (Nov. 7, 2002) -- The Loyola Marymount University men's water polo made quick work of Claremont, 15-1 in cold and rainy conditions at Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center on Thursday afternoon.
The seventh-ranked Lions scored 12 unanswered goals to improve to 13-13 on the season. Claremont fell to 3-17 on the year.
The Lions were paced by freshman Endre Rex-Kiss with four goals. It gives him 39 on the season, tops on the team. Senior Kevin Witt scored another hat-trick in his impressive four-year career at LMU. He now has 27 on the season and 195 in his career, moving him to second all-time in program history.
Also netting a hat-trick was sophomore Tyler Swanson, giving him seven goals in his second season with the Lions. Also adding goals for LMU was sophomore Trevor Wagner, senior Adam Zintsmaster, junior Scott Smith, freshman Wes Fox and freshman Nick Oster.
Claremont would get their lone goal by Ryan Jetton at the 4:58 mark of the third quarter.
LMU will host a three-team round robin on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Lions will take on Air Force at 9:30 a.m. The Falcons will then face Redlands at 12:00 p.m. The final game of the day will feature the Lions and Redlands at 2:30. It will be the final home game for seven LMU seniors.
