Los Angeles, Calif., Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000 - The Loyola Marymount women's basketball team rolled to a 66-51 win over Northern Arizona on Thursday night in Gersten Pavilion. Senior guard Taryn Reynolds picked up a career-high 10 rebounds against the Lumberjacks while freshman center Adrianne Slaughter continues to impress setting career-highs in points (23), rebounds (11) and blocks (6).
The Lions, who improved to 6-4 overall, used Slaughter's 20-point effort to jump ahead 32-22 going into the locker room at the half. Slaughter and junior guard Bryn Britton led the way with 10 points each during the first 20 minutes of play.
LMU continued its attack in the second half as it extended its lead and never looked back to take the 15-point win. The Lions brought home the victory winning the battle on the boards out-rebounding the Lumberjacks 59-35. Reynolds added in five points, two steals and one assist to her 10 boards while Slaughter also chipped in a steal to her career-high setting night. Sophomore forward Kate Murray rounded out LMU's top scorers; she added in 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Northern Arizona (3-9 Overall) was led by Lindsey Foster who scored 12 points on the evening. Heading up the Lumberjacks defense was Anna Sturing who picked up four steals and Bridjette Wickham who had two blocks and six defensive boards.
The Lions stay home to host the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday, Dec. 30. Tip-off for the Lions and Panthers is 2 p.m.
