Melody Nua begins her first year on the LMU coaching staff in 2017. Nua has a strong coaching background that features six years serving as a coach with Seal Beach VBC, three years as a head coach at Valley Christian High School, and three season as an assistant coach for both indoor and beach volleyball at Golden West College.
While at Golden West, Nua saw her indoor squads earn a trio of second-place finishes in the conference, while the beach team claimed a conference championship. Both the indoor and beach teams managed to reach a state final championship match under Nua.
As head coach at Valley Christian, Nua guided her team to three CIF appearances and one league championship crown. On the club circuit, she has led Seal Beach VBC to a gold at junior nationals and SCVA summer soirée, and has seen her team medal three times at the junior national qualifiers.
A two-time All-Mountain West Conference selection as a setter at UNLV, Nua earned a MWC Championship and was named Setter of the Year in 2007. She left UNLV as the all-time assists leader in school history, amassing 4,797 in her career.
A 2010 graduate of UNLV with a degree in kinesiology, Nua grew up in Long Beach, Calif. and attended Lakewood High School.
