HIGHLIGHTS AT LMU ...
2012-13 • SOPHOMORE... Missed first three games due to injury... played next seven games but struggled to heal from injury, was shutdown and applied for medical redshirt... scored 15 points with five three-pointers against Long Beach St. and had 10 points and four rebounds in win over Portland State... finished playing seven games with 6.6 ppg and 2.3 rpg, hitting 9-for-22 from three (40.9%)

2011-12 • FRESHMAN... Finished season averaging 6.2 points, 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 35.4 percent from three (29-82) and 73.5 percent from the charity stripe (25-34)... played in 33 of the Lions' 34 regular season games, averaging 15.1 minutes off the bench... led the Lions with a career-best 21 points and eight rebounds in the win over La Sierra and then became the fifth straight freshman to earn a double-double, going for 13 points and 11 rebounds against Idaho State (12/10/11)... he then paced the Lions in the overtime win at San Francisco (12/31/11) to start conference play, scoring 19 points with six rebounds, hitting 4-for-7 from three... he also had an 11-point showing off the bench to spark the Lions in the win over Portland (2/9/12), hitting all three of his three-point attempts... scored 11 points off the bench, hitting 3-for-4 from long range, in win over Weber State (3/18/12) in the second round of the CIT tournament.

BEFORE LMU... Blackwell helped Taft High School to the City Championship and to the Division I California State Basketball Championship in 2010-11, finishing the season 29-3 overall and a perfect 10-0 in the league. Taft was ranked 16th nationally in his senior season... He finished his senior season averaging 13.3 points per game, best on the squad. He was also second on the team with 9.0 rebounds per game while also averaging 2.1 assists and 0.8 blocks per contest. He had 10 or more points in all but four games on the season, including a season-high 22, adding 14 rebounds in a 74-51 win over Washington High School... He led Taft to a 66-62 win over Westchester in the second round of the state playoffs, going for a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. He finished hitting 8-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-5 from the three-point line. He had 18 points and eight rebounds in the quarterfinals... Blackwell went on to earn First-Team All-City Section honors.. Blackwell returned to his birthplace of California in 2010 from Suwanee, Georgia, where he went to Peachtree Ridge High School... In his final season at Peachtree as a junior in 2009-10, Blackwell averaged 18 points per game and led Gwinnett County for the second straight year in rebounding at more than 13 per contest. Blackwell went on to earn first-team Gwinnett Tip-off Club All-County and first-team Atlanta Tipoff Club All-Metro honors... As a sophomore, he averaged 16.7 points and led Gwinnett County with 11.8 rebounds per game. Peachtree went on to finish the season 21-8.

PERSONAL... Cory Dwayne Blackwell, CJ, was born on Oct. 28, 1992 in Los Angeles, Calif., and he is the son of Megan and Cory Blackwell... His father was a standout for Wisconsin and played in the NBA with Seattle... has three sisters, two older... CJ volunteered with Mercy Worldwide, which provides relief and care to those in need and to inspire, educate and motivate those in underprivileged conditions, with a special focus on Youth, worldwide... a Sociology major.
