Briefly: Tumia Moe begins her second year at LMU...had a breakthrough
season as a true freshman for the Lions...one of two freshman to earn
All-West Coast Conference honorable mention honors in 1999...played in
all 19 games and will be competing for a starting role again this
season following an 11 point freshman campaign...an athlete with good
speed who is strong in the air...a good tackler...distributes the ball
well...spent the 1999 summer competing on the Leahi club team in
Honolulu, HI...added a strong and athletic presence to the
central-midfield.
At LMU: Moe begins her sophomore campaign for the Lions...
1999:...gained
confidence throughout her inaugural season with the Lions, playing in
all 19 games and earning 10 starts...only missed one start in the final
11 games of the season for LMU...was named All-WCC honorable mention as
a true freshman...Her 11 points on the season were fourth on the
team...in addition, she was fourth on the team with four goals and tied
for second with three assists...three of her goals were game winners,
including back-to-back 1-0 wins over California and Texas...her third
winner came in a 2-0 win over Colorado College...she finished the
season with 21 shots and 10 shots on goal...was voted on the Soccer
America Team of the Week twice (Sept. 20 & Oct. 4)...voted WCC Player
of the Week on Sept. 21...was voted Rookie of the Year by her
teammates.
High School: Moe is a 1999 graduate of Punahou High School in
Honolulu, HI...a four-year soccer letterwinner, she also earned letters
in volleyball and basketball...served as team captain her senior
year...garnered All-ILH honors as a junior and senior and was a
three-time all-state selection...named the Hawai'i Player of the Year
in 1998...helped lead her basketball team to state championship as a
junior...high school teammate of fellow Lion Shaina Nishimoto...prep
soccer coaches were Debbie Ching and Wendy Thompson.
Personal: Tumia "Mia" Joy Moe was born on September 29, 1980 in
Honolulu, HI...the daughter of Tuitoga and Jo Anne Moe...has two
brothers, Tau and Tanuvasa, and one sister, Tui...enjoys all sports and
hanging out at the beach...lists her favorite vacation spot as her
home, Hawai'i...was also recruited by Hawai'i and Pacific...a liberal
arts major.
