Briefly: Angela Ichinose begins her fourth and final season at
LMU...returned to play 19 games her junior season following an
injury-plagued sophomore campaign...spent the 1999 summer competing
with the Leahi Soccer Club in Honolulu, HI...has the strongest shot on
the team and is very skilled in the air...a target player who is
dangerous in front of the goal...presence was felt off the bench for
the Lions at the forward position...last spring saw some time at left
back where she could contribute this fall.
At LMU: Ichinose enters her senior season in the Lions'
program...
1999:...played in all 19 games for the Lions in 1999, and
started in five games...Ichinose went on to score three goals for LMU
and added an assist to total seven points on the season...she was
second on the team with 34 shots and with 18 shots on goal...she
finished with a shot on goal percentage of .529, fourth on the team
with players with more than 15 shots on the season...against Gonzaga,
she had three points (goal and an assist) to lift the Lions to a 6-1
win...received the Golden Goal Award for her freekick goal against
Colorado College...
1998:...missed several games due to a
stress-fracture in her shin...returned against USC on September 27 and
collected a shot on goal...played in 10 games and started in
two...tallied an assist on the game-winning goal against Gonzaga on
October 30...recorded two assists and 11 shots during the
season...
1997:...played in 14 games throughout the season...scored against
Fresno State, Hawai'i, Weber State and Cal State Northridge...led the
team (along with Jessica Lyon) in goals (4)...finished second on the
team with 34 shots on goal.
High School: Ichinose is a 1997 graduate of Iolani High School in
Honolulu, HI...a four-year varsity letterwinner...was also the place
kicker for high school football team...selected to the
All-Interscholastic League of Hawaii first team following her senior
year, and second-team All-ILH following her junior year...earned
honorable mention honors as a freshman...as a prep, competed against
fellow Lion Shaina Nishimoto...prep coaches were Georganne Derby and
Kari Morioka...newcomers Shari Nishikawa and Jamie Shoma join
Ichinose from Iolani HS.
Personal: Angela Yaeko Ichinose was born on November 25, 1979 in
Honolulu, HI...the daughter of Miles and Barbara Ichinose...has two
sisters, Keiko and April...was also recruited by Hawai'i and
Colorado...spent the summer as an intern at the Milici Valente
Advertising Agency...a business administration major.
