    Los Angeles, Calif., Friday, October 8, 1999 -- The Loyola Marymount women's soccer team broke a school record for goals scored in a game in the 7-0 victory over the Utah State Aggies today at Sullivan Field. Junior Kim Buccola recorded the Lions last two goals of the game, her first points of the year.

    LMU erased the previous team record of six goals in a game set on September 2, 1995 in a 6-3 win over Sacramento State. The Lions, who completely dominated the game offensively out-shooting Utah State 23-3, cruised to 3-0 lead at the half. Freshman Jill Dobens headed in the game-winning goal at the 19:32 mark of the game off a left-cross from sophomore Erin Fahey. Dobens is now tied with Fahey for the team lead in goals scored (4), Fahey picked up her tenth point of the year on the play. Just two minutes later junior Stacy Roberts scored off a short pass from sophomore Amanda Shellenberger. The Lions continued their attack on the Aggies when Dobens scored her second goal of the day at the 25-minute mark. Shellenberger, who leads the team in assists, posted her fifth of the year on the play. Loyola Marymount tacked on four additional goals in the second half to put the game out of reach. Kerri Tanksley and Trisha Steiner each recorded their first goals of the season, while Buccola posted her first career multi-goal game.

    The Aggies (4-6 Overall), who tallied just three shots on the day, recorded their fourth loss out of the last six games. LMU goalkeepers Tracy Sharp and Elizabeth Skhal posted the Lions eighth shutout of the year. The shared shutout improves Sharp's season record to seven and extends her career shutouts mark to 24.5, she is the all-time shutouts leader at LMU.

    Loyola Marymount (9-2 Overall) returns to action this Sunday, October 10. The Lions will travel to the University of San Francisco for a 2 p.m. game to open conference play.
