19TH RANKED WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO SAN DIEGO STATE

    Los Angeles, Calif., Friday, September 24, 1999 -- The No. 19 Loyola Marymount women's soccer team fell to San Diego State, 2-1, today at Sullivan Field. The loss snapped the Lions' 12-game home unbeaten streak which dated back to the beginning of last season.

    The Aztecs, who improved to 6-2 overall, struck first midway through the first half when Kate Qually converted the score off a left cross, Fay deLeon and Lori LaCoursiere recorded assists on the play. The game-winning goal was scored by SDSU's Kaycee McElree at the 61:10 mark of the game off the assists from Elicia Petre and deLeon. McElree was ejected in the 63rd minute after taking out LMU's Karie Huchting from behind.

    The Lions, who dropped to 6-2 on the year, poured it on offensively in the second half outshooting the Aztecs 13 to 2. Angela Ichinose recorded the Lions lone goal at 79:14. Stacy Roberts sent a hard shot which rebounded off an SDSU defender, Ichinose knocked it down and converted the goal.

    LMU returns to action this Sunday, September 26 when it hosts Colorado College at Sullivan Field. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
