WOMEN'S SOCCER UPSETS NO.14 BAYLOR

    Waco, Texas, Sunday, September 19, 1999 -- Loyola Marymount's women's soccer team stunned the No. 14 Baylor Bears by snapping their five-game win-streak in a 1-0 victory today at the Baylor Soccer Field.

    In the 31st minute, sophomore Erin Fahey broke away from the Bear's defensive pack and converted the game-winning goal. Goalkeeper Tracy Sharp remained poised and focused under Baylors attack recording nine saves on the day, seven of which occurred in the closing period. The victory extended Sharp's career shutouts mark to 22.5

    The Lions handed the Bears, who fell to 6-2 on the season, their first defeat since their 3-0 loss to Nebraska on August 29.

    LMU, who improved to 6-1 overall, returns to action this Friday, September 24 in the second game of a double-header at Sullivan Field in Los Angeles, Calif. The women's soccer team will host San Diego State at 4 p.m. following the men's soccer game at 1 p.m. against Oregon State.
