MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO GONZAGA IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

    Spokane, Wash., Sunday, October 24, 1999 -- The Loyola Marymount men's soccer team battled with the Gonzaga Bulldogs to a 3-2 double overtime loss today at Martin Field. Jason Kuska converted the game-winning goal at the 114:10 mark of the game to lift Gonzaga to the victory.

    The Lions (6-7-2 Overall; 0-2-1 WCC) fell behind 2-0 in the first half. Matt Blasdel and Brian Ching each beat Lion goalkeeper Jerad Bailey for the Bulldogs early lead. LMU came back late in the second half posting two goals just nine minutes apart. Arturo Torres first found the back of the net by heading in a pass from Spencer Reeves at the 61:38 mark of the game. Torres, a 6-1 forward, later converted the game-tying goal into an open net as he took a pass from Mike Coakley (70:48). Torres' two goals improved his season total to 13 goals, the team lead, he also leads the team in points with 29.

    The Bulldogs (8-6-1 Overall; 2-1-0 WCC) outshot the Lions 17-12 in the contest. Bailey posted six saves in 114 minutes, while Gonzaga goalkeeper Trevor Yost tallied four saves.

    LMU returns to action next Tuesday, November 2 when it travels to San Diego, Calif. for a 7 p.m. match up against the University of San Diego Toreros.
