LOS ANGELES — LMU lost to San Diego 2-1 on Wednesday at Sullivan Field. The Lions scored once in the first half but were held scoreless after halftime, finishing with nine shots to San Diego's 15.
San Diego generated the larger shot volume, finishing with 15 attempts and four on goal while the Lions had nine shots and two on frame. The Lions' production included
Sam Scott's goal off assists from
Skyler Wright and
Lewis Clutton.
The Lions broke through in the first half at 21:45, when
Sam Scott scored off assists from
Skyler Wright and
Lewis Clutton for a 1-0 lead. San Diego answered at 22:53 to make it 1-1, and
Ky Mani Dade helped keep it there with two saves. The half ended tied 1-1.
LMU generated four shots before San Diego broke a 1-1 tie, when Taj Eagleston scored at 78:41 to put San Diego ahead 2-1. The Lions pushed late with corner kicks at 80:47 and 85:51, and
Adrian Alvarez put a shot on frame in the final seconds, but San Diego held on for the 2-1 result.
The Lions are 1-6-2 overall and 0-2-0 in West Coast Conference play. San Diego is 6-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in WCC play.
