DENVER — LMU lost to Denver 2-1 on Saturday on the road in Denver, Colo. The Lions generated 11 shots, including six after halftime, but could only manage the one goal.

The Lions put together more of the first-half shot volume but went to halftime trailing 1-0 after Denver scored in the 39th minute. Earlier,
Skyler Wright had the Lions' first attempt in the fifth minute,
Axel Uriostegui and
Ismail Nieves followed with chances, and Wright forced Alex Hohl into a save at 24:55.
Ky Mani Dade answered Denver's first recorded shot with a save on Erik Collins at 31:27, but Grant Lund scored for Denver off Anthony Masino's assist at 38:19.
Lewis Clutton sent the Lions' final chance of the half wide in the 44th minute, and Denver carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Lions struck early in the second half when Samir-Mohamed Djeha converted a penalty kick at 47:34. It was Djeha's first goal of the season. Djeha did all the work to earn the penalty and after a lengthy review, took the shot from the spot cooly and sent the keeper the wrong way.Â

Denver later went in front on Bryce Willoughby's goal from Erik Collins at 71:19 for a 2-1 score. Dade made saves in the 71st and 76th minutes as Denver generated pressure around its go-ahead goal.Â

The Lions still created chances late, with Matthew Sacristan having a shot blocked in the 81st minute and
Marc Li Zimmermann forcing a save from Alex Hohl in the 85th before sending another attempt high after an 88th-minute corner. Dade added two more saves in the closing minutes, but the Lions finished the match on the short side of the 2-1 score.
