STOCKTON, Calif. — LMU defeated Pacific 1-0 on Saturday. The Lions finished with a 7-4 edge in shots on goal, and JJ Hoover made four saves to complete the shutout.
 

Sydney Schuler scored a curling free kick in the sixth minute of the game to give the Lions an early lead and what would eventually become the final tally. It was Schuler's first collegiate goal.  
 

Hoover only needed to record four saves to record the clean sheet as the Lions' defense kept her relatively safe throughout the match. She recorded her 16th career shutout, now sixth all-time at LMU. 
 

Schuler scored at 5:05 to put the Lions in front, and LMU built much of the first-half action around that early goal. Taylor Person had two early attempts, Alaina Lee put a shot out top, and the Lions earned consecutive corners before Elise Bolanos forced a save in the 17th minute. Cameron Bourne added two more first-half shots as LMU finished the half with seven shots to Pacific's three. Pacific generated late pressure with two corners and a shot on frame, but Hoover made the save in the 39th minute, and the Lions went to halftime ahead 1-0.
 

The Lions created the first chances after halftime, as Bourne missed high, Bolanos put a shot on target, and Izzy Smith and Kaela Standish forced back-to-back saves before the Lions earned a corner at 60:33. 
 

Pacific put two shots on frame in a 31-second span in the 66th minute, but Hoover saved both before Bolanos had another attempt stopped in the 70th minute. Hoover added another save after a Pacific corner at 74:19, and LMU saw out the final minutes despite a late Pacific corner to secure the 1-0 final.
