LOS ANGELES — LMU defeated San Diego 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Field.

Elise Bolanos recorded an assist and added three shots, putting one on frame. Bolanos's assist was her first of the season.
JJ Hoover made four saves and finished with a shutout. It was Hoover's third consecutive clean sheet.Â

The Lions opened with three attacking actions between 6:27 and 8:58, as
Mia York recorded a shot, the Lions earned a corner kick, and
Alaina Lee sent a shot left while the score remained 0-0. The Lions kept the pressure on with another corner at 14:07, and
Kaela Standish put a shot on frame at 15:32 that was saved by Ilise Medrano. Hoover kept San Diego off the board in the 33rd minute with a save on a shot to the bottom center. York and Bolanos added additional attempts later in the half, and the Lions reached halftime after a scoreless opening 45 minutes.

Bourne broke a scoreless match at 82:19, finishing a Lions goal assisted by
Elise Bolanos and Lee to put the Lions ahead 1-0. It was a lovely move from the Lions as Lee looked up and found Bolanos on the right side before Bourne made a diagonal dash past the back line. Bolanos threaded a ball to her and Bourne touched it past the keeper before calmly finishing into the open net.Â

Earlier in the second half, the Lions built pressure from 53:52 to 61:16 with five shots and a corner kick, including an
Elise Bolanos shot saved by Ilise Medrano and two attempts from
Hailee Takao. San Diego answered with chances of its own, but
JJ Hoover saved shots in the 65th and 75th minutes before the Lions continued to push with looks from
Izzy Smith, Bourne, York, and Bolanos. After Bourne's goal, Hoover added another save at 83:19, and the Lions closed out the half to finish the match with a 1-0 win.Â
